Bhujangasana [ Cobra Pose]- Yoga

This asana in yoga resemble the shape of a serpent named cobra. This asana in yoga is also performed during the sun salutation or surya namaskar .  This asana is easy but it does require some cautions. So let’s explore how it is performed.

Procedure


  • Lie on your stomach and keep your feet together . Make sure that your knees doesn’t bend .

  • Then slowly put your palms facing towards the ground under your shoulders.

  • Then slowly rise up and try to straighten your arms and while doing so start inhaling in slowly.

  • Then as soon as you rise up make sure that your feet are together during the whole process.

  • It’s not necessary to straighten up your arms. You can do this yoga even with bend arms. But if you can straighten you arms then its better.

  • Now lift your head back and start looking up in the sky. You can close your eyes too. Stretch your head as back as possible.


  • Bhujangasana

  • During this asana make sure that your weight distribution is equal on both your arms.

  • Don’t stretch too much if feel pain in your back. It is better to this asana while remaining in a flexible position. After weeks of practice try to stretch back as much possible.

  • Helps in easing pain in shoulder and neck.

  • Good for losing weight .

  • Helps in gaining flexibility and best suited for gymnasts.

  • Improves blood circulation in whole body.

  • Helps in curing respiratory disorders .


  • Bhujanga Asana

    Caution


  • Pregnant and people with fractures especially in upper abdomen should refrain from this yoga.

  • People with slip disc should do with great care and precision. Just stretch your neck and back till the point where you are comfortable .
